Overage Billing
Keep receiving form submission emails beyond your monthly quota — pay only for what you use.
By default, form submissions stop being emailed once you reach your monthly quota. With overage billing enabled, emails continue to be delivered beyond your included limit, and you are billed for the extra usage at the end of each billing period.
Pro & Advanced only
Overage billing is available exclusively on the Pro and Advanced paid plans. It is not available on Free or trial plans.
Overage Rates
Extra emails are billed per 1,000, charged at the end of your billing period:
| Plan | Included / month | Overage rate |
|---|---|---|
| Pro | 25,000 | $1.00 per 1,000 emails |
| Advanced | 200,000 | $0.50 per 1,000 emails |
Overage usage is reported to Stripe as metered billing and appears as a separate line item on your next invoice.
Enabling Overage Billing
Overage billing is opt-in and disabled by default.
- Go to Settings → Overage Billing in your dashboard
- Toggle overage billing on
- A Stripe metered subscription item is created automatically
You can disable overage billing at any time from the same page. Usage already accrued in the current period is still billed at the next invoice.
Requires an active paid subscription
Overage billing is linked to your existing Stripe subscription. If your base subscription is cancelled, overage billing is also disabled automatically.
Quota Warning Emails
To help you stay on top of usage, Static Forms sends automatic warning emails when you approach your monthly limit — regardless of whether overage billing is enabled:
- 80% warning — sent once when you cross 80% of your monthly quota
- 90% warning — sent once when you cross 90% of your monthly quota
Both warnings reset at the start of each billing period so you receive them fresh each month. These emails are transactional and cannot be opted out of.
Payment Failure & Grace Period
If Stripe cannot collect your overage invoice, a 7-day grace period begins:
- Overage email delivery continues during the grace period
- You receive an email with the grace period end date and a link to update your payment method
- Stripe automatically retries the payment during this window
- If payment is not resolved before the grace period ends, overage delivery is paused
Restoring Overage Delivery
Once your payment is processed successfully, overage delivery resumes immediately and you receive a confirmation email. No manual action is required.
Update your payment method
If you receive a payment failure notice, visit Settings → Subscription to update your card details.
Monitoring Overage Usage
Your current overage count and estimated cost for the billing period are visible in Settings → Overage Billing. The count resets at the start of each new billing period alongside your regular monthly quota.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does overage billing apply to child accounts?
All email usage — including child accounts — counts toward the parent account's monthly quota. Overage billing is configured and billed on the parent account only.
What if I don't want overage billing?
Leave it disabled (the default). Once you hit your monthly quota, additional submissions are rejected with a 429 status and no emails are sent until the limit resets or you upgrade your plan.
Is overage available on trial plans?
No. Overage billing requires a paid Pro or Advanced subscription. Trial plans are not eligible.
