What is Static Forms?

Static Forms is a form processing service that allows you to receive form submissions from your static website directly to your email without requiring server-side code. The service includes form processing, spam protection with reCAPTCHA, Cloudflare Turnstile, and Altcha, plus reliable email delivery of form submissions.

How much does it cost?

Static Forms has four plans. Free is $0 forever with 250 submissions a month. Starter is $6/month, or $4/month billed annually, with 3,000 submissions a month, unlimited forms, file uploads, webhooks and AI Reply. Pro is $9/month with 25,000 submissions a month plus integrations, form rules, branding removal, and up to 3 team members. Is CAPTCHA required?

Yes, to prevent spam and abuse, forms should use one of our supported CAPTCHA providers. Free plans use a honeypot plus Google reCAPTCHA v2. From the Starter plan up you can also choose Cloudflare Turnstile, hCaptcha, ALTCHA or reCAPTCHA v3. See our spam protection guide for setup details.

How do I set up Static Forms with my website?

Setting up Static Forms is simple:

1. Register for an account and get your API key
2. Set up your preferred CAPTCHA provider for your domain
3. Add your API key and our endpoint to your HTML form
4. Configure success and error redirect URLs
5. Start receiving form submissions in your email

Can I use Static Forms with any website?

Yes! Static Forms works with any static website, including those built with HTML/CSS, JavaScript frameworks, static site generators like Jekyll, Hugo, or Gatsby, and sites hosted on platforms like GitHub Pages, Netlify, or Vercel.

Does Static Forms support file uploads?

Yes! File uploads are available from the Starter plan up ($6/month, or $4/month billed annually). You can include file upload fields in your forms, and the files will be sent as attachments to your email and stored for later download — 1 GB on Starter, 5 GB on Pro, 10 GB on Agency. Free plan users can upgrade to Starter to access file upload functionality along with other premium features.

Can I manage multiple API keys for different environments?

Yes. The Starter, Pro and Agency plans support unlimited accounts, including your default account, each with its own API key; Free is limited to its single default account. This works well for development, staging, production, team workflows, or client projects. Every account has its own delivery email while sharing your plan's monthly quota, and added accounts require email verification before they can receive submissions.

What happens if I exceed my monthly submission limit?

It depends on your plan. Free and Starter hard-stop at the quota: new submissions are rejected until the next billing cycle or until you upgrade — Starter prompts an upgrade to Pro. Pro and Agency can opt in to overage billing so emails keep going out beyond the quota, billed at $1.00 per 1,000 extra submissions. We'll send you notification emails as you approach your limit.

How do I customize success and error pages?

You can specify custom success and error redirect URLs in your form. When a submission is successful, users will be redirected to your success page. If there's an error, they'll be redirected to your error page. This allows you to provide a customized experience for your users.

Is my data secure?

Yes, we take security seriously. All form submissions are processed over HTTPS, and we don't store the content of your form submissions on our servers beyond what's necessary to process and deliver them to your email. For more details, please review our Privacy Policy.

What are webhook integrations and how do they work?

Webhooks are available from the Starter plan up and allow you to receive real-time HTTP callbacks when forms are submitted. When a form is submitted, Static Forms will automatically send a POST request with the form data to your specified webhook URL. This is perfect for integrating with third-party services, triggering workflows, or sending data directly to your own applications. You can configure webhooks with authentication (API keys) and customize which events trigger the webhook. Google Sheets, Notion, Airtable and Mailchimp sync require Pro.

Can I route submissions to different recipients based on what was submitted?

Yes. Form rules are available on Pro and Agency plans and add conditional routing to any form. Each rule pairs conditions with actions: match on a field value, or on Agency also the visitor country, time of day, a UTM parameter, attachment presence, or a regex, then send the notification to a different verified recipient, override the email subject or reply-to, redirect the visitor, post to Slack, Discord, Telegram, Google Sheets, Airtable or Notion, call a webhook, or mark the submission as spam. Pro allows 10 rules per form and Agency allows 25, and rule email recipients must be addresses you have already verified. What happens if I receive spam despite using reCAPTCHA?

CAPTCHA significantly reduces spam, but no provider is 100% effective. If you're still receiving spam, consider switching providers, tightening your current CAPTCHA configuration, or adding an additional honeypot field. You can also contact our support team for help reviewing your setup.
