Formspree vs Web3Forms comes down to a few numbers. Formspree's free plan covers 50 submissions a month and Web3Forms' covers 250. Formspree lets you add Slack and Telegram on every plan, and Web3Forms keeps most integrations behind a paid plan. Which one is cheaper depends on how many submissions you get and which features you need.

This post puts both next to Static Forms, the service we make, so read it as our side of the story. Every Formspree and Web3Forms fact comes from the vendor's own pages, read on 3 November 2026, and each table says which page. Where a vendor page was silent or two of its pages disagree, we say so. Static Forms prices are in US dollars and match our pricing page.

Decision flow for picking a form backend: if you want many free forms and only email, look at Web3Forms; if you want Slack, Google Sheets or Notion on a low plan, or a SOC 2 report, look at Formspree; if you want uploads and autoresponders on the cheapest paid plan, or a high monthly volume, look at Static Forms

Two notes on the table. Formspree's prices come from its plans page, which shows $10, $20 and $60 a month on the yearly toggle and $15, $30 and $90 on the monthly one. Web3Forms' prices are billed yearly and come from its pricing page, as explained below.

Web3Forms prices: pricing page vs llms.txt

Web3Forms' pricing page and its llms.txt summary list different prices. We quote the pricing page, because it's the page buyers see. Checked 3 November 2026, it shows:

Web3Forms plan Pricing page, billed yearly
Starter (by application) $51 a year
Pro $13 a month, $156 a year
Agency $35 a month, $419 a year

Its llms.txt lists different figures for all three. The submission limits (5,000, 10,000 and 20,000 a month) are the same on both. We left out Web3Forms' monthly-billing prices because we couldn't confirm them. Check its pricing page before you buy.

Which one fits: pick by need, and when to stay put

Formspree fits if:

  • You want chat alerts without paying. Slack, Discord, Telegram and WhatsApp work on its Free plan. On Static Forms, Slack, Discord and Telegram start on Starter.
  • You want Google Sheets, Notion, Airtable, GitHub, Trello, Linear or Asana on a low plan. Formspree lists them from Personal.
  • A security review asks for SOC 2. Its security page says it has a SOC 2 Type 2 report. We can't match that today.
  • You need a rules engine or a custom honeypot field name. Both are on its Business plan.
  • You get fewer than 50 submissions a month across several forms. Its Free plan allows unlimited forms, and ours allows one.

Web3Forms fits if:

  • You run several small sites and want each on a free plan. Free allows unlimited forms and domains, with a Free allowance of 250 submissions, reset monthly. If the sites together stay under that, it covers all of them.
  • You want hCaptcha without paying.
  • You qualify for its Starter plan (students, early startups and non-profits). It gives 5,000 submissions a month with one active integration, but no uploads or autoresponders. Our Starter allows 3,000, so 5,000 a month on Static Forms means our Pro at $90 a year.

Static Forms fits if:

  • You need file uploads and autoresponders on the cheapest paid plan. Both start on our Starter plan, at $48 a year.
  • You send more than 20,000 submissions a month. Formspree's Business plan and Web3Forms' Agency plan both stop at 20,000. Our Pro covers 25,000 for $90 a year and our Agency covers 30,000.
  • You want a searchable inbox that keeps every submission for as long as you're on a paid plan.
  • You want your stored form data in the EU. Pick the EU at signup and it's stored in Frankfurt. Email delivery and operational logs stay in the US, so read the EU data residency docs before you rely on it.

Stay where you are if your current setup isn't hurting. Each form you move needs a new action URL, a new key and a test submission, which is real work across a client portfolio.

Pricing: what you pay at each volume

This table shows which plan covers each monthly volume. Formspree prices are per month on yearly billing; Static Forms prices are per year. Web3Forms prices are from its pricing page, billed yearly, checked 3 November 2026 (see the price table above).

Submissions per month Formspree Web3Forms Static Forms
Up to 50 Free Free Free
51 to 200 Personal, $10/month Free Free
201 to 250 Professional, $20/month Free Free
251 to 2,000 Professional, $20/month $51/year if eligible, otherwise $156/year Starter, $48/year
2,001 to 3,000 Business, $60/month $51/year if eligible, otherwise $156/year Starter, $48/year
3,001 to 5,000 Business, $60/month $51/year if eligible, otherwise $156/year Pro, $90/year
5,001 to 10,000 Business, $60/month $156/year Pro, $90/year
10,001 to 20,000 Business, $60/month $419/year Pro, $90/year
20,001 to 25,000 Custom, contact sales Above Agency; not listed Pro, $90/year
25,001 to 30,000 Custom, contact sales Above Agency; not listed Agency, $192/year

If you need uploads or autoresponders, skip the Web3Forms Starter rows: neither feature is in that plan. On Formspree they start on Personal and Professional, and on Static Forms on Starter.

Static Forms plans at a glance:

  • Free, $0: 250 submissions every 30 days, 1 form, reCAPTCHA v2, honeypot, spam filter. The inbox shows the last 30 days. Past 250, up to 100 submissions are held in the inbox, undelivered, then new ones get a 429.
  • Starter, $6/month or $48/year: 3,000 submissions a month, unlimited forms, uploads, webhooks, autoresponders, AI Reply, every CAPTCHA option and domain restriction. There are no overage charges: past 3,000 a month, up to 100 submissions are held in the inbox, undelivered, and after that new ones get a 429.
  • Pro, $9/month or $90/year: 25,000 submissions a month, 5 GB of storage, Google Sheets, Notion, Airtable and Mailchimp, form rules, a custom sending domain and up to 3 team members. Overage is optional and off by default, at $1 per 1,000 extra submissions.
  • Agency, $19/month or $192/year: 30,000 submissions a month, 10 GB of storage and unlimited team members.

Spam protection

All three have a honeypot, and none of them relies on a honeypot alone.

Formspree: every plan gets reCAPTCHA, the Formshield filter, a _gotcha honeypot and domain restriction. Its plans page lists sensitivity controls and custom spam rules on higher plans: advanced spam control from Professional, custom honeypot names and custom rules from Business.

Web3Forms: Free includes hCaptcha and a honeypot. reCAPTCHA v3 and Cloudflare Turnstile need a paid plan, and so does domain restriction, which its FAQ offers as a defence if someone copies your public access key.

Static Forms: every plan gets the honeypot, reCAPTCHA v2 and a spam filter that moves flagged submissions to a Spam tab instead of deleting them. Turnstile, hCaptcha, ALTCHA and reCAPTCHA v3 are Starter and up, and domain restriction is Starter and up.

For a closer look at honeypots, CAPTCHAs, filters and what happens to a blocked message across eight services, see our spam protection comparison.

File uploads

  • Formspree: none on Free. Personal has 1 GB, Professional 5 GB and Business 10 GB. A submission can carry up to 5 files, each up to 25 MB, and you get links to them in the notification email.
  • Web3Forms: none on Free or Starter. Pro has 5 GB of storage and Agency 10 GB. Its docs say the basic attachment feature takes single files up to 5 MB, and describe an advanced uploader for more.
  • Static Forms: uploads are Starter and up. Starter has 1 GB of storage, Pro 5 GB and Agency 10 GB. One 4.5 MB total covers every file and field in a submission. See the file upload docs.

Formspree and Web3Forms set a size for each upload, which can add up to more than our total.

If your users send large PDFs or photos, check this row before the price row. Our 4.5 MB total is the tightest of the three.

Data retention and where data lives

This is where Web3Forms' own pages disagree, so we show each source.

  • Its pricing page lists submission history by plan (30 days on Free, 3 months on Starter, 1 year on Pro and Agency) and a separate data retention policy: up to 3 years on Free and Starter, unlimited on Pro and Agency.
  • Its llms.txt says submissions are kept for up to 3 years by default, with retention set per form from 7 days to 3 years, or unlimited on Pro and Agency.
  • Its docs FAQ says "We do not store any form submissions of our users", and puts its servers in the US-East region.

We read the FAQ line as out of date, but that's our reading. If retention matters for compliance, ask Web3Forms which statement applies to your plan.

Formspree's plans page lists a 30-day submission archive on Free and doesn't list an archive limit for paid plans. Its security page says it hosts on AWS in the United States and that it relies on Standard Contractual Clauses as a data processor. It doesn't mention a region choice.

Static Forms separates two ideas. History is how far back the inbox shows: the last 30 days on Free, everything on paid plans. Retention is how long a submission is stored: up to one year on Free, and unlimited by default on paid plans, with an optional shorter period per form.

Setup

All three use a form posted to a hosted endpoint, with a key to say whose inbox gets the message. Web3Forms uses a hidden access_key field. Static Forms uses apiKey:

HTML
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
  <meta charset="UTF-8">
  <title>Contact</title>
</head>
<body>
  <form action="https://api.staticforms.dev/submit" method="POST">
    <input type="hidden" name="apiKey" value="YOUR_API_KEY">
    <input type="hidden" name="redirectTo" value="https://yoursite.com/thank-you">
    <label>Email <input type="email" name="email" required></label>
    <label>Message <textarea name="message" required></textarea></label>
    <button type="submit">Send</button>
  </form>
</body>
</html>

Moving from either service takes four changes: the form action, the key field, the redirect field name and the honeypot field name. The step-by-step versions are in our Formspree comparison and Web3Forms comparison. The API reference lists every Static Forms parameter.
