We've Moved to staticforms.dev - Here's Why
We're excited to announce that Static Forms has officially moved to a new home at staticforms.dev! Our previous domain, staticforms.xyz, is being retired. In this post, we'll explain why we made this change and what it means for you.
Why We Changed Our Domain
The .xyz Spam Problem
When we launched Static Forms, the .xyz domain extension was trendy and affordable. However, over time, we noticed a significant issue: many email providers and spam filters treat .xyz domains with suspicion.
Here's why this matters:
- ✅ Email Deliverability Issues: Emails from .xyz domains are more likely to end up in spam folders
- ✅ Corporate Firewalls: Many companies block or flag .xyz domains by default
- ✅ Lower Trust Perception: Users and businesses often view .xyz domains as less trustworthy
- ✅ Spam Association: The .xyz TLD has unfortunately become associated with spam and phishing campaigns due to its low cost and minimal registration requirements
Why .dev Is Better
The .dev domain extension offers several advantages:
- Developer-Focused: The .dev TLD is specifically designed for developers and tech companies, making it a perfect fit for Static Forms
- HTTPS Required: All .dev domains require HTTPS by default, signaling enhanced security
- Higher Trust: The .dev extension is viewed more favorably by email providers and security systems
- Professional Image: It better reflects our commitment to serving the developer community
What This Means for You
Your Forms Still Work
Good news: You don't need to change anything immediately. We've set up proper redirects from the old domain to the new one:
staticforms.xyz→staticforms.devapi.staticforms.xyz→api.staticforms.dev
All your existing forms will continue to work without any modifications.
What We Recommend
While everything continues to work automatically, we strongly recommend updating your forms to use the new domain:
